Bar Exam Online Proctored Mac Setup
The bar exam (UBE in 41 states, plus MEE/MPT components) is delivered through Examplify by ExamSoft on Mac. The lockdown is among the strictest of any exam: offline mode, native app, no app switching, no screenshots.
Examplify decrypts the exam at start time, locks the system, and re-encrypts answers for upload. Network is optional during the exam itself. The lockdown disables Mission Control, Cmd-Tab, screenshots, and screen recording. ExamMonitor (the optional add-on) records the webcam. The macOS capture path for ExamMonitor honors window privacy; the LDBypass overlay is therefore invisible to the recording. The risk is not technical detection - it is policy: bar admission committees treat AI use as serious misconduct, and even technical invisibility does not protect you from a procedural complaint based on other evidence.

Common questions
Can the NCBE detect AI use?
They cannot screen-detect the overlay. They can detect AI from your written answers via stylometric analysis. Bar essay answers are graded individually; outliers raise flags.
Are there any lawful AI uses during the bar exam?
No - the candidate agreement explicitly forbids any external resources.
What is the consequence of being caught?
Admission revocation. In some states, character-and-fitness review can affect future bar applications too.
