Install & activate
Download ControlCenter, drag to /Applications. Buy a subscription ($29/month). Open the app, click "Activate…" and enter your display code on our website.
Configure your AI
Click Settings in the menu bar. Pick your provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama, or OpenRouter). Paste your API key. Select a model.
Take your exam
Open Chrome, enter your SMOWL exam in Moodle. Press ⌃⌘L to toggle the overlay. Ask ChatGPT or Claude. Type your answer manually in Chrome.

FAQ
Does SMOWL detect the overlay?
No. The overlay uses sharingType=.none with custom-drawn AppKit views — no WebKit, no CoreAnimation layers. This makes it invisible to SMOWL's screenshot methods (screencapture -x and desktopCapturer). We verified this with 10/10 stealth tests that simulate SMOWL's exact detection methods, including pixel-perfect screenshot comparison (0 different pixels).
Do I need to jailbreak my Mac?
No. ControlCenter is a standalone macOS app. No SIP off, no AMFI off, no dylib injection, no DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES. Just install and use. The app works on any macOS 11+ Mac with Accessibility permission.
Can I use my ChatGPT Plus subscription?
No. You need an API key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter. Ollama is free and runs locally. OpenAI API keys start at $5 pay-as-you-go. You only pay for the tokens you use.
Same subscription as LDBypassX?
Yes. One account, one subscription. Your purchased time works for both LDBypassX and SMOWL Bypass. Buy once, use both.
What if SMOWL updates?
ControlCenter doesn't modify or inject into SMOWL. It's a completely separate app. SMOWL updates don't affect the overlay. The stealth mechanism (sharingType=.none + custom drawRect) is a macOS window server feature, not a SMOWL vulnerability.
Does SMOWL record my screen?
SMOWL CM takes periodic screenshots (every 5 minutes by default) using screencapture -x and desktopCapturer — both legacy APIs that respect sharingType=.none. SMOWL does NOT record continuous video. Your overlay is invisible in every screenshot.
What about the keyspy?
SMOWL's keyspy only detects 4 keyboard shortcuts: Cmd+V, Cmd+Shift+3/4/5, and Cmd+G. Our hotkey (⌃⌘L = Control+Command+L) is not in that list. Additionally, we suppress the event at the CGEventTap level, so keyspy never sees it.
